The Gathering ICT Leadership

Amplifying connections.
Cultivating opportunities.

Grand Gathering

ABOUT US

The Gathering originated from a shared vision to create a proverbial welcome mat for Black talent arriving in Wichita. Receiving and supporting the best of local resources, comforts, and opportunities provides big-picture perspective for transplants and natives alike.  Wichita has an extraordinarily resilient and accomplished community of African Americans, and we are stronger together.

With this vision in mind, The Gathering aims to:

1. be a landing space for Black professionals.

2. intentionally connect Black professionals to cultivated opportunities.

3. determine how members can best benefit and support each other's diverse talents.

The overarching goal is to be a vital community resource that cultivates and retains Black talent in Wichita through relationship building, mentorships, professional development, social engagement, board participation, and entrepreneurial support.

Wichita Business Journal

Getting diverse talent to Wichita is one thing, but advancing those professionals in their careers and putting them in positions of leadership is another task. Sitting on an organization's board of directors...is a clear way to bring diverse voices to important tables where decisions are being made.

The Community Voice

This is also more than a program for new or nearly new people to Wichita.  It’s also for people who’ve been in Wichita for a while, who can benefit from making connections with other Black businesses and professionals.

The Gathering, it offers a chance for Black professionals to network with each other and with the business community.  When you attend an event, you might be met with some unfamiliar faces.
That’s actually by design.

The Wichita Eagle

There is a presumption that Wichita is not diverse.  The best way to get out in front of that is to change the narrative.  The Gathering has three purposes: to welcome, to connect, and to retain.  Instead of competition, Kelly said he wants to see community.
